Introduction
New from September 2011, we have introduced a new homework policy for years 7, 8 and 9 which focuses on extended projects, known as IMPRESS projects, rather than just the traditional homework model.
The IMPRESS projects are beneficial to students because they encourage students to:
- Become Independent Enquirers and develop research skills
- Present work in their preferred learning style
- Harness their creative abilities
- Develop a work ethic outside school
- Challenge their own ideas and thinking
- Develop skills in areas such as organisation, meeting deadlines etc; skills which are needed for embarking on GCSE courses
- Relate their homework more directly with their classwork
- Celebrate success
This section of our website is where students (and their parents) can find out more about IMPRESS, and it also contains the calendar (so you can see which projects are set when, and when the deadlines are), as well as links the details of each project.
This section of our website is currently being developed, and more content is being added all the time, so not all the IMPRESS projects are displayed yet.
