WASPS/Bullying
WASPS (Westbourne Advising on School Pressures Squad) are students who give advice to fellow students on bullying, school or home concerns or just to be there to listen to students who want to talk. The College has 35 representatives ranging across the school year groups.
WASPS work mainly with Year 7 students and spend regular periods with students during their Form time. The also get involved with Year 6 students currently at Junior schools during their transition to High School making visits to their schools, spending time with them during the Inductions days at Westbourne and acting as 'buddies' during their first weeks here.
To be in WASPS you don't necessarily have to be the ‘perfect' student. Ideally we recruit a range of different types of students. You need to be able to listen well, give advice, be totally confidential about things you hear and be understanding about a wide variety of issues that the younger students in our school have.
We are delighted to announce our new WASPS recruits.
These students will undertake a days training in July and will be fully involved in the Year 6 transition programme over the follwing few weeks.
