Sport Relief 2010

After weeks of planning, the members of the Sports Council at Westbourne, decided to try and raise the profile of the charity ‘Sport Relief' by organising some events in the week leading up to and the week after the national Sport Relief mile weekend, by going into assemblies to promote the event.

We decided to plan a non uniform day that would run in conjunction with the Year 8 AWE day, as they had activities based around Sport Relief planned for this day. The non uniform day was based around the theme of Sport Relief, by asking pupils to wear sports clothing that was red or white! This was very popular and taken on board by many in the quest for raising lots of money for the charity.

We also decided to organise various activities at lunch time, to raise even more money, these activities included selling cakes (that we'd made with our own fair hands and we completely sold out!!). There was a basketball shooting challenge, a football penalty shoot out, hula hooping and the very popular tug of war which challenged pupils against the teachers! Unfortunately, the teachers were very successful in most of the matches!

It was a great day and we were very pleased with how popular it was & how involved the whole school became!!

We managed to raise over £500 for Sport Relief and we would like to thank everyone for their support!
