Policies

Each of the College Policies are linked to a Governor's Committee, who approve each one, and who are also responsible for regularly reviewing them.

Below are some of our current Policies:

Its purpose is to minimise the risk to pupils of inappropriate contact from staff, to protect employees and schools from litigation and to minimise the risk to ICT systems.

Anti-Bullying Policy
The control and management of bullying is vitally important at Westbourne Sports College, and we fully accept our responsibilities and duty of care in this issue. This document sets out the college's policy in relation to the issue of bullying. It reflects a belief that bullying is not acceptable under any circumstances (zero tolerance) and that it is best prevented through the development of an ethos based on mutual respect, fairness and equality.

Assessment Policy including Data Capture & Reporting
Assessment supports learning by identifying what each pupil has learned and identifying their future learning goals. Different audiences need such information and it is important that assessment practice not only gathers such information, but also shares it appropriately with each audience.

Attendance Policy
The College is committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all its students and recognises this can only be achieved by supporting and promoting excellent school attendance for all.

The College Behaviour Policy is based around the ideas of choices and consequences. Effective learning and teaching is the principle purpose of Westbourne Sports College. It underpins the successful provision of a broad and balanced curriculum in which all pupils, regardless of ability, can succeed. Westbourne Sports College is dedicated to providing an environment that promotes healthy eating and enabling pupils to make informed choices about the food they eat. This will be achieved by the whole college approach to food and nutrition documented in this whole school food policy. The policy was formulated through and in conjunction with the schools Working Party for Health and Environment, Health & Sustainability Group, and through consultation with members of staff (teaching and support), pupils, governors, and parents.
