Yr 12 Young Enterprise - ‘Out of the Box’ – The Winners!
A group of Yr12 A Level Business Studies students have been successful at the Suffolk Area Finals of the Young Enterprise competition. The Yr12 Business Studies students set up their own company ‘Out of the Box' producing handcrafted cards and a range of accessory boxes. Their Business Studies teacher Mr Hinchcliffe was Business Advisor and Link Teacher for the company.
As part of the Young Enterprise competition the students have had to run their own company and submit a 10 page company report with financial accounts. At the Area Finals evening they undertook a formal presentation, and finally presented a trade stand together with a 60 minute interview with 3 judges.
Their success at coming 1st at the Area Finals evening saw them beating off King Edward VI Grammar School, Stowmarket High School and East Bergholt School as well as winning 1st place for the ‘Best Company Report'. The judges were highly impressed by the Westbourne Young Enterprise ‘Out of the Box' company commenting on how much the students had learnt and that their ‘high quality and professional cards' helped them to produce a company report of ‘outstanding thought, clarity and excellent teamwork.
The Yr12 students and their company have been selected to go through and represent West Suffolk at the Suffolk County Finals on 4th May, at Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre.
