Football

Kyle Hammond in 9N played for Ipswich Town Football Club U15 squad against Manchester Utd U15 squad at Portman
Road recently. As a result he received Sports Person of the Month for April Award on the basis of his elite performance at football.

Dance Competition

Congratulations to the our Hip Hop & Cheerleading dance troupe who earned second place at the ‘2 nd Annual Cheerleading & Hip Hop Festival' at Claydon High School on Tuesday 27 April.

The ten girls from years 9, 10 and 12 have been practising their routine for the last few months under the watchful eye of Hip Hop Club coach Lauren Clarke. The girls competed against ten other high schools from within the Ipswich Westbourne pyramid and should be very proud of themselves.

The event was sponsored by the Ipswich Cheerleading Academy and the girls involved included Samira Bennett, Ellen Boreham, Chels Dann, Maddi Mears, Emma Mayes, Lauren Moyes, Marley Small, Soorya Sunil, Katie Walden, Chels Wardley, Becki Youngs and Khaleda Begum.

Any pupils interested in taking part, please come along on Tuesday lunchtimes to the Hip Hop Dance Club.


‘Holiday Activities'

A range of sporting activities will once again be on offer at Westbourne Sports College for years 7 and 8 for a fortnight during the Summer holidays. The cost per session will be £2.50 for a half day or £5 for a whole day, commencing weekdays from Monday 2nd - Friday 13th August.

Football

Good luck to the WSC Year 10 Boys football team who are due to compete in the Suffolk Cup Final at Brantham Athletics Club on Friday 14 May 2010; 7.15pm kick-off.


Rounders

Over the last month a team of eleven year 11 Westbourne girls competed in an inter-schools Rounders Tournament. They earned 5 th place in the tournament and by all accounts had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The girls are to be commended for their exemplary behaviour and for their sportsmanlike conduct throughout.

The team comprised Chloe Jones, Karina Barzukova, Morenike Akintaju, Hazel Gardiner, Christy Long, Hollie Suttle, Elle Pentelow, Hannah Backhouse, Siana Leigh-Stoddart , Rebecca Chung and Lana Karim.

 

Suffolk County Athletics Championship

Congratulations to two of our students who competed in the above county competition on 9 May at Northgate. James
Powley 11D for achieving a Silver medal in the U17 3000 metre track race in 9 mins 39 secs. Andrew Davis 7D for
collecting Gold medals in the U13 boys category for the 100 metres and the Long Jump as well as a Silver in the Shot Put.
