"Together we learn to make a difference"
A Message from the Principal
1st February 2013 marked the first day in Westbourne’s next stage of its improvement journey as we became an Academy in partnership with the Academies Transformation Trust (ATT).

The decision to make this change is one the school has made itself; no one has made us do this. We have made the change because we believe as a self-managing independent state school we will make faster progress towards our goal of being an outstanding school.
The Academies Transformation Trust, who work with many academies across the country, have assessed our current school and are confident that with their support we can be an outstanding school by 2014 and that is our clear target.
Initially you will notice very little difference in the school. We have chosen, in consultation with pupils and parents, a new name and a new logo. Other than that over rest of this school year very little will appear different. Most of the outwardly visible changes at the start are “behind the scenes” in terms of finance, contracts and organisation.
From September we will be introducing more obvious changes such as the introduction of a new more formal uniform. We have deliberately decided to delay this change until September to give us time to consult with pupils and parents on the change. We appreciate the financial pressures many parents feel and do not want to make changes that result in unnecessary costs halfway through a year.
The new uniform will mark a change towards all of us at Westbourne raising our expectations of what we can achieve together and I am sure parents will support us in helping our young people want to achieve more.
Over the next few months we will provide updates of the changes and progress we are making. However, as always, I am happy to respond to any questions via email, phone or face to face.
Mr C Edwards
Principal
